Welcome to #235 of Original Comic Art Tips! A small design tweak, I was tired of the orange titles, so I switched to an all-blue, hope you like it.
Original Comic Art Auction Results:
eBay: the Fantastic Four page by Jack Kirby was sold for $15k, let’s see if this will remain the highest price for 2022. The other F4 page went for $8k.
A Kingdom Come page by Alex Ross went for $5k, a Fantastic Four page by John Buscema for $1,5k, an Avengers page by Jim Valentino for $1,5k, a Red Sonja cover by Celina for $2k. I don’t know why three prints by J. Scott Campbell were sold for $1,7k. The Batman/Catwoman page by Gary Frank was a good buy at $700.
Best Offers: good news! after more than six months since I last was able to see real Best Offers, Anthony (thanks!) sent me a link to a web tool I hadn’t found myself. So I can finally tell you that this Champions wraparound cover by Tony Daniel was sold for a $4k B.O., This Silver Surfer page by John Buscema for $2,6k, the Superman-proposing-Wonder-Woman commission by Adam Hughes for $1,9k.
Heritage Weekly Auction: the Black Spidey page by Al Milgrom went for $7,2k, a Shadow page by Chaykin for $3,6k, a Silver Surfer page by Duncan Rouleau for a pretty high $2,6k, Sgt. Fury by Ayers for $2,6k, the Spidey page by Bagley for the same price.
Catawiki: the cover by Hermann went for €4k, the page for €3k, the page by Manara for €3,2k, the cover by Cavazzano for €700, the pinup by Liberatore for €750, the page by Scarpa for €600.
Nate Sanders Prince Valiant auction: a $150k sale for the J.C. Murphy Estate, the highest price was $4,3 paid for the cover piece strip with matching Hal Foster layout, the highest price for a Murphy strip without Foster layout was almost $4k, Foster layouts without finished strips all went for around $1k, with the highest at $1,2k.
A March 1921 Gasoline Alley daily (without Skeezix) went for a very high $2,4k at Russ Cochran auctions.
