Issue #13
Welcome to the 13th and last Original Comic Art Tips Newsletter of 2017! Not much to highlight this week, I think everybody will be spending their Christmas money in January… just a quick update and I’ll see you in 2018 with my look at the ComicLink Auction.
Last Sunday’s Heritage Auction had many good Originals for sale, the Joe Kubert Star Spangled War Stories interior page went for more than $4.000 while the Brant Parker Wizard of ID daily strip was a steal at $200. I’m often surprised by how little money is needed for a Beetle Bailey Sunday strip by Mort Walker, this went for a very low $250, I’m convinced that in the next years (5-15) Beetle Bailey originals will grow a lot in price, $200 is really too low for one of the classics of humor worldwide. The same will happen with Johnny Hazard, like I told you last week another very early example went again for less than $400. Alex Toth high end art is very stable and this 2 page lot went for $4.000.
Don’t forget to look at Russ Cochran’s Auction lots ending tomorrow, some are still very low.
This week on eBay
John Byrne JLA Original Art
If you want a John Byrne original but you’re 15 years late to buy an X-Men page for cheap, this is your week on Ebay: a Hidden Years page with The Beast vs Kraven, and a JLA Classified with Superman Batman and Wonder Woman are still at $150… If you’re searching instead for a cheap Liefeld Avengers page here it is.
Heritage Sunday Auction
A regular week at HA, with some nice art but no bigs.
Sandman pages are always rare here we have a interior Original Art from issue #40 by Jill Thompson. A Dennis the Menace panel Original by Ketcham is always nice and the usual weekly Joe Kubert war page. A Michael Golden Machine Man original with a classic look and another nice Davis/Farmer Excalibur Original Art. John Buscema Conan art is always in auction listings, you should buy them if the bids stay low, they come handy when you need something for a trade, nobody can say no to a cheap Buscema!
See you in January with Comic Art Tips!
