eBay: $4,5k for the Batman page by Tim Sale, $4,3k for the Superman cover by Gary Frank, $4k for a Vampirella painting by Enric, $3k for a Fathom cover by Michael Turner, $2k for the Spawn sketch by Todd McFarlane, $1,9k for a Vampirella cover by Celina, $1,7k for a Spider-Man page by Stuart Immonen.
A painted JLA cover by Tim Truman was sold for a very low $1,3k Best Offer, $1,2k for a Harley cover by Dave Johnson, $1,1k for a Ms. Marvel splash by Aaron Lopresti, $1,4k for a Wyatt Earp story by Dick Ayers, $1,1k for a Batman sketch by Jerry Robinson. Sold for $600, this Man-Bat page by Michael Golden was sold again two days later for a $1,2k B.O.
This “production art” Kirby cover sold for $1k was clearly a simple b/w photocopy of the cover on acetate. Poor buyer.
Heritage Weekly Auction: a Spider-Man page by John Byrne went for $5,6k, a Fantastic Four page for $4k, two good prices in 2022… The Tarzan page by Buscema for $4,5k, a Thor page for $3,6k, a Sandman page by Hempel for $3,5k, a Spidey page by Gil Kane was a good deal at $2,6k, a Flash page by Irv Novick for $2,4k, good price also for this Dr. Strange page by Colan, $1,4k. Covered by Alcala inks, but still, an X-Factor page by Simonson was sold for only $1,2k.
Heritage Signature Auction: as usual i will not link to all of the high prices (they’re too many) but only to record prices.
The Calvin & Hobbes Sunday strip by Watterson was sold for $480k, more than double the $216k made last September by a daily, but I’d expect a color Sunday to be worth more in comparison…
$144k for a full Alpha Flight issue by John Byrne, almost $4k per page. $132k for a Forever People full issue by Kirby, $6k per page. $114 for a Haunt of Fear cover by Ingels, doubling the former record price, $102k for a Sandman page by Dringenberg, probably also the first Sandman piece to go over $100k.
This Hulk cover by Jim Starlin is a new $102k record for the artist, wait for a top cosmic piece to appear next time. $90k is the top price paid for interior Hulk art by McFarlane (thank Wolverine), record price for Sin City art by Miller, $83k, a Fighting American splash sold for $72k is the highest priced non Marvel/DC piece by Kirby, $69k for a Green Lantern cover by Gil Kane, $66k for a Defenders cover by Al Milgrom.
$63k for a Green Hornet cover by Schomburg, $60k for a Grendel cover by Bisley, $57k for a Daredevil cover by Tim Sale, $55k is a new record for Rick Leonardi, early art, probably due to the Vision/Scarlet Witch characters.
Lower than expected prices: $78k for the X-Men (Captain America) DPS by Jim Lee, $43k for the Wolverine DPS by Jim Lee, $31k for the Batman page by Jim Lee, $25k for the Dark Knight cover by Jim Lee, $52k for the triple DC cover by Alex Ross, $66k for a Peanuts Sunday, $27k for a Krazy Kat Sunday, $26k for a Rarebit Fiend Sunday.
No more space to go on, I stopped going down at $25k…
A 1920 Gasoline Alley daily was sold for $1,2k at Russ Chochran Auctions.
The Dredd page by Mick McMahon at Comic Book Auctions went for £3,750
This week on eBay
Marvel: some X-Men Elsewhen pages by John Byrne, currently the cheapest option for buying pages (with Marvel heroes) by Byrne. We start with no mutants, but with a page with Spider-Man in all panels, then a Wolverine page, and a Spidey/Nightcrawler splash, if you want cheaper options there are a nice Atom page, a Peter Parker page, and an action Next Men page.
Captain America in action by M.C. Wyman, I remember that this Doc Ock/Aunt May wedding piece by Mike Esposito was already sold on eBay at least a year ago, and it went for a high price. The Hulk page by Sal Buscema is still going.
This seller has a big batch of early Ultimate Spider-Man pages by Mark Bagley for sale, with all the main villains represented. Here’s a link to an origin page from #4, Ultimate Goblin, many action pages, swinging Spidey and more. There’s also a Venom splash and a detailed prelim.
The same seller also has some Miles Morales pages by Marcelo Ferreira, here’s a splash.
A detailed cover prelim by Steve McNiven and a Old Man Logan DPS, a Sabretooth page by David Finch, Silver Surfer by Alan Davis, a Captain America commission by Mike Zeck, a Power Pack page with early inks by Scott Williams, a Man-Thing illustration by Frank Cho.
60 eBay users are watching (and some bidding) this signed Kirby print advertised as original art. Let’s see how much money will be wasted on this one. 😿

New Blog Post: Chris Samnee Batober prices/images!
I wrote the last post on the blog in June 2021, this newsletter is always updated, but the website was starting to get too much dust…
The opportunity of leaving a record of the Batober sketches by Chris Samnee was too good, so you can go and see a price chart and all 34 illustrations.
By the way, I have two other articles in the works, if time permits I plan to publish them in the next month.
Comic link Featured Auction part 1 of 2

A Batman/Azrael cover by Mike Zeck, a Wonder Woman DPS by Jim Lee, some top covers by J. Scott Campbell, a Deadpool cover by Tradd Moore, a Parker page by Darwin Cooke, a Walking Dead cover by Michael Golden, a Y title page by Pia Guerra.

This was a lot of work, took me 3 days… See you next week!
