Adam Hughes, Enrico Marini, Mile Zeck! Original Comic Art Tips #195
Welcome to #195 of Original Comic Art Tips!! Many auctions again, I had no time left to look at last week’s Heritage Results… I’ll do it next week.
Original Comic Art Auction Results:
eBay: the highest price was made by a sketch cover, $3,5k for an Adam Hughes Catwoman. A Simpsons page by Bernie Wrightson went for $2,5k, a Morbius page by Frank Robbins for $1,9k, a Man-Wolf DPS by George Perez for $1,9k, a Deadman commission by Neal Adams for $1,6k.
A very nice Scout painted cover by Tim Truman was sold for $1,5k, the Silver Surfer page by Ron Lim for $1,5k, the Invincible page by Ryan Ottley for $1,2k, a Superman cover by Stuart Immonen for $1k.
Heritage Weekly Auction: a Legion page by Keith Giffen went for $7,2k, a Sgt. Fury by Dick Ayers again for $7,2k, the Wolverine sketch by Bolland for $2,2k, the Silver Surfer page by Ron Lim for $1,5k, an On Stage daily for $1k.
ComiConnect: the Spider-Man page by Steve Ditko went for $133k, from the first issue of Spider-Man drawn by John Romita comes the new record price for panel pages, already sold in another comic art era (2015) for $62k. Another later page went for $21k. A record for Frank Springer, with the cover to Spectacular #24 sold for $16k.
The two Rarebit Fiend Sunday strips by McKay were affordable, with one sold for less than $10k, John Buscema only made the layouts on this nice Thor page, but $1,3 is still a good price, another one went for only $700. Looks like suddenly Shade pages by Chris Bachalo doubled their price, this one went for $1,2k.
This week on eBay
DC: last week’s Superman page by Byrne is ending tonight, a Catwoman commission by Adam Hughes, a beautiful Wonder Woman prelim by Garcia Lopez, a Superman painting by Joe Linsner, a nice Batman sketch and an Anarky page by Norm Breyfogle, a Harley sketch by Bruce Timm.
I can’t say from the pictures if this Miss Lace is the usual (but still nice) hand colored print by Milton Caniff or original art as advertised.
Heritage Weekly Auction
Not much, this week, there’s a Fantastic Four page by Art Adams, a Spider-Man page by Bob McLeod, a Hulk/Wolverine commission by Herb Trimpe, a Captain America commission by David Finch, an Infinity Abyss page by Jim Starlin.
Another great auction, with a top Asterix illustration by Uderzo, a Lucky Luke illustration by Morris, a Ric Hochet cover and a Chick Bill cover by Tibet, a Jeremiah page by Hermann, Largo Winch by Franq, a cover by Lambil, XIII by Vance, Tanguy by Jijé, the Scorpion by Marini and many other great pieces.
Another Tintin sketch by Hergé (like the one sold at Swann’s for $5k…) with a low estimation.
See you next week!!
